The concept was built around a never-ending hole-in-one contest, and 3Advance outbid other firms for the development of the underlying cloud platform, an administrative system to review win-claims and the apps for golfers of all ages. Design to go-live took six months, where we designed the user experience and produced slick native iOS and Android apps that would work at any of the 11 golf courses affiliated with TboxTour.
On a sunny spring day in 2019 — just a few short months after launch — the first hole-in-one was hit! At Bull Run Golf Course, Janet Zwetkow became the first TboxTour winner, pocketing $29,473 for her efforts.
TBoxTour was an incredible app and a brilliant game, but ultimately did not survive. The business shut down during the Pandemic, after pivoting to a customer rewards program. Startups are hard, and ultimately despite all our efforts was too much for this truly innovative platform.
